Tandoori Chae / Matke vali Chae

Matke vali chae (that's tea made in mud-stoves, served in baked mud mugs) or 'Tandoori' chae as it is mostly known on the internet, is a beautiful mixture of the traditional drink that is made in an experimentally new way. The resulting tea has a smoky taste with a tingling texture, served in little mud bowls, and becomes an exquisite experience. I went to F10 Markaz recently to buy some books. The 'matke vali chae' shop is right beside that book store so I ordered one. While the 'chota' was making tea, I went inside the bookstore. 10 minutes pass and he comes into the bookstore with a cute brown 'matka' in one hand and some tissue papers in the other. That's when I rated their customer service a solid 10/10.

In front of the shop, there is a large, slightly risen space. Multiple chairs and tables are placed there for the general public. Sitting on a chair under a wintery morning Sun, I consumed my first ever 'matke vali chae'. It was definitely different from any tea I had ever taken. The smoky sensation as you sip the tea makes you blink twice and beats any strong coffee whatsoever. The place itself was mildly clean, their customer service was specifically good and the delivery time was about 10 mins. Base your decision on these facts if you want to give the place a visit. The negative thing was their price. A 100RS tea with nothing at the side is nowhere fair. Personally, I would give about 80RS for the whole experience but maybe that's because I travel on a budget. Have fun if you go. Ask them to let you see how they make it and they will do that too. Premium Customer Service!
