Capitalism vs Socialism: An attempt to understand

Please remember that every solution is a grey in politics. There is a black in all ways and there is a gloom in all the Sun’s rays. Here, I will give you facts and processes involved in socialism and capitalism to make it easy for you to understand that why socialism is better than capitalism. I have a limited knowledge, so feel free to further do your own unbiased research and choose a side. Goodluck.

After the industrial revolution, the world progressed at a an unanticipated, almost unnatural, speed. We have progressed more in the last 2 centuries than we have since the universe came into being. Machines made our work easier, faster and requiring less human labour than was needed before revolution. Following a long trail of domino effect, this revolution then makes it possible for those who have access to these machines, to become millionaires and billionaires fast and easy once they inherit these machines. Dragging this a little longer just to make you understand this key factor, machines, make production of products easier and faster. So, whoever owns these machines, control the money coming from the products of these machines. Look around you, when any entrepreneur starts their venture, (s)he needs a machine. Entrepreneurship is done on the back of either a food-cart, a stove, a car, or any other machine. Whenever you add a machine in an otherwise manual system of production, your work will get done much faster, than without the machines. Consequently, this will lead to the owner of that machine being wealthy and well-off. Resultantly, we conclude that machine is the thing, the factor, the entity, which produces great fortunes. If you understand this point, understanding capitalism and socialism is really halwa (easy-peasy). If you do not understand this point, I urge you to give the above another read. Excuse me for writing as I do, and if it becomes too difficult for you, contact me directly. I will answer your confusion(s).

Now here is the difference: Capitalism wants individuals to control machines. Meanwhile Socialism wants government to control machines. That is it. When you first hear it, it seems good to keep the clutches of government off the machines and keep it in individual hands. This was proven by a recent poll I conducted on reddit (Fig1.0).

This should not be the case. The following paragraph gives the answer why:

Democracy in its truest form is the rule of people. So, whoever people choose, should control the machinery made by people’s taxes. Is this system better or a system where I control the machinery and pass it on to my child or wife or sibling, and they pass it on to someone else in the family. This system gives you Bilawal Zardari s/o Asif Zardari and Hamza Shareef s/o Shahbaz Shareef. They control your machines. Machines are your mills, industries, institutions (WAPDA, NADRA, PEMRA etcetera) and landmarks (airports, stations, motorways, city halls, plazas, markets, parks, housing societies). These things I listed, and suchlike others, are the machines of any society. In capitalism, sons, and daughters’ rule after their father. Money coming from the machines never reaches you. The middle-class public of the majority remains slaves (Ghulam-IbneGhulam-IbneGhulam). Money reaches those who control the machines (although they made them from your money: taxes/grants/intl. debts). Your children will earn for Saad Hussain Rizvi s/o Khadim Hussain Rizvi and Asad Mehmood s/o Fazal-Ur-Rehman. There will be more children in the elite class and your generations will feed their (elite’s) generations, just like you fed Imran Khan, Zardari, Nawaz Shareef, FazluRehman and Pervez Musharraf. Your dad/mom fed Benazir Bhutto, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, General Zia and General Yahya and your gramps worked to fed Iskander Mirza and suchlike others of their time. We are living in a corporate capitalist society that intentionally keeps us enslaved. As exaggerated as this claim may seem, I invite you to pause, and think over this. You will realize how this is true. Do you think son of Bilawal or Imran Khan or Hamza Shahbaz or FazluRehman will ever in life need to do labour? Their generations will stay well-fed while middle class tries to secure just the next time’s meal. This is how capitalistic, individualistic government works.

In capitalism, there are ‘singular heroes.’ The idea that Superman alone or Batman alone or Spiderman alone can save the world, is a manifestation of individualistic, capitalistic mind seeping in the global village. A corporate head of a capitalistic entity (CEO), be that of a whole government (PM/Pres.) or just an institution (Board of Directors), (s)he will never let the people under them to get together. Capitalism has been and will always be against unity. Motivational speakers insist on you alone being a King or Queen. Coming from a middle class or even upper-class family, are you really a king or a queen without your dad’s money or mom’s support? The right answer is no because that is not how a society progresses. A system of collective humans progresses if all the components of that system are taken care for. Take the example of a machine, it needs all the screws tightened at their best, all the details oiled and set properly; then it works at its optimum capacity. Then how can us humans, much more complicated beings than machines, be able to conquer the world alone? Understand: Motivational speaking is a just another business. Their lives are as problematic as ours, with the exception that with money, they now got better problems. Those who are professionals get up and go to their jobs. Be it writing, cleaning a sewer, or heading a multinational company’s CEO replacement meeting. They derive their motivations from their actions and not the other way around. Capitalism sows the concept of ‘Survival of the fittest’ which is a rule of the jungle. We humans are intelligent beings. Why are we focused on ‘survival of the fittest’ and not ‘survival of all’?

My apologies, I steered way off the topic. We conclude for capitalism that it teaches individuality, which is against basic human nature.

Socialism on the other hand gives total control to the government. The people select government, for a limited amount of time. Anyone who wants to control the machinery can go into the government by following a certain set of rules and regulations. Moreover, because they are not the ultimate power, they can be kicked out if doing anything wrong. Socialism teaches society to run together. Government has the ultimate power and is replaced every pre-decided number of years. Now of course this system has its own complexities. But one thing that it guarantees is equality. The government is equal for all because no one, not a single human being, either in public or in government, controls any machinery for an indefinite amount of time. People come in power and people go out of it. When they go out of power, they lose control of the state’s machineries. Thus, money comes, and money goes.

The major dreadful thing in this system is that media houses are controlled by the government. Government can detain anybody and torture anyone with no news coming out. They might die in detainment. The counterargument that I love to give for this, is a bit unethical. But true. Shahbaz Shareef and Nawaz Shareef were the rulers when Model Town Lahore Massacre happened. Both are free, with the elder one in London. Zardari is a huge name in the country's corruption records (and in crypto too he is a whale) but is still alive. Our police serve as a breeding ground and a refreshment centre for criminals. Our Intelligence Beauro is a torture cell for the powerful (the machine-owners). Our army is an all-powerful institution with sons of Generals driving Ferraris (Major General Ejaz Shahid’s son’s $400,000 Ferrari) and owning Franchises (Gen Asim Bajwa’s Papa John Pizza Franchise and more). When I see this, I am forced to conclude that a system which, at its worst, returns my money, and does not allow me to speak, is better than a system which takes my money and shuts me up too. I write this but I have no guarantee of life living in Pakistan. My degree is in BS Mass communication with a major in Investigative journalism. This is a dangerous line of work, and I am fully aware, but meanwhile a need to do something good for this world, propels me to drive this whole capitalistic system out of the window, and bring a new socialistic one.

Disrespect is not meant for anyone mentioned here. All names mentioned are correct and allegations are true. Dhuan Vheen se Uthta he Jhan aag lgi ho. Those who stole from the homeland and corrupted themselves, they should and would be given excruciating punishments here. Afterlife, hell, and heaven is not our matter and nor are we anybody to intervene.

I will keep updating this article overtime. I am a member of a small group of people who are training in solutions. We look for answers as to how a socialist system can work keeping in mind it is adversities. We debate weekly on different topics of the current news and practice our skills. This is a training group, so if one or two or more of us participate in a revolution, we would have a sense of direction in the times of chaos. Anyone reading this and wanting to join can hit me up. We have branches all over Pakistan. Nothing is needed to join except just your beliefs aligning with ours, and a will to change this system. Lastly, remember, capitalism evolves into socialism and then progress occurs. Your metro buses and orange lines, begging from Saudi, China, and IMF, this is not progress. This is to make more machines to fulfil individual pockets. Progress can take centuries like in Europe, or it can occur in decades like China. It can occur in your lifetime. Machines belong to people and the people alone.

Pakistan Zindabad.
